On behalf of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the Idaho National Laboratory, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) convened a standards needs assessment workshop on the codes and standards needed to facilitate the successful introduction, and wide-spread acceptance and deployment of light-, medium-, and heavy-duty on-road electric drive vehicles (EDVs).
The workshop, held on April 5-6, 2011, considered current and future U.S. domestic, regional, and international standards, codes, conformity assessment activities, and education and training initiatives. The workshop provided a neutral environment where all interested stakeholders could engage in discussions to identify gaps in coverage and explore opportunities for collaboration and coordination. The input from the workshop will go into a report to be prepared in the coming weeks and posted at http://www.ansi.org/edv.
