We all love rhinos, they are fantastic creatures. The thing that makes them unique, is also, sadly, a cause for concern. Rhino horn is illegally sold in certain countries as a mythical cure for all sorts of things - from hangovers to cancer - none of which has any proven medical benefit. After all, rhino horn is only keratin, the same as your finger nails - so ask yourself "What is the point?"
The demand for rhino horn has led to illegal poaching and a trade that is spanning nations and having serious consequences for rhinos - both in Africa and Asia. They are being killed, in ever increasing numbers, for their horn. Worse still, the way they are killed is most often a painful and suffering death.
Celebrate World Rhino Day 2013 - help stop rhino poaching
We want to send a powerful message to the world that this killing must stop. So we are asking for you to join us, and hundreds/thousands (?) of people around the world, and share this message on Facebook and Twitter. The more people who join in, the more powerful our "What is the point?" message will be.
