Where there are no healthcare workers, there can be no healthcare delivery. Africa Health Placements (AHP) is a South African-based social profit organisation working to address the extreme inequities in access to healthcare through human resource solutions. The organisation’s mission targets health access for the most indigent, partnering governments, civil society and the private sector to do so. AHP defines itself as social profit because its work, while mostly donor-funded, delivers a profit measured in terms of improved healthcare and social indicators. AHP offers several HR solutions, including the recruitment of both South African and foreign-qualified doctors to work in rural and underserved hospitals in Africa. AHP has placed and orientated over 3 900 health workers (mostly doctors) in developing countries in Africa over the past 10 years. Visit ahp.org.za for info about our work.
