Where do kids go when there’s nowhere to go? What do they do when there’s nothing to do? Kids will be kids, and idle hands will get to work one way or another. But if we give kids a place to go where they can be safe, where they can be curious, where they can be kids, then they’re capable of amazing things. The Y is that place.
More than 1,400 YMCA afterschool programs are providing learning enrichment and physical activities to keep minds and bodies active, while also serving healthy food. Our goal is to serve 7.5 million meals and snacks to children this year. We've served 5 million meals so far.
Your story is what's important to us, and we're bringing it to life through video. In some way or another, your life has been touched by the three things that make the Y community so strong: youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Now, we're asking you to capture what it is about the Y that means so much to you, your family, or friends. By listening to each other's stories, we hope to catch a glimpse of all the hope, strength, and determination across the country and how everyone's living the Y's values. Do you have a Y story that's changed your life? If so, send your videos to http://ymca.net/share-your-story and show us how the Y's helped benefit you and your community!
