This interview is with the amazing former Light Middleweight World Champion Takaloo, and what a great interview it was.
Merdud Takalobighashi, professionally known as Takaloo, has an inspiring journey, like something out of a film. His family had to leave their middle class life in Iran and flee due to war.
As refugees, they moved to the UK and found themselves a new spot in Margate, Thanet, in the South East of England. Struggling through poverty and various other challenges, the family faced the challenge of rebuilding their lives of scratch.
Takaloo was entered into the mainstream school system, with no English ability, no friends and being surrounded by a totally different culture, he soon became the victim of bullying and racial discrimination.
The family's situation worsened and Takaloo was temporarily placed into foster care, where the bullying continued. He then discovered boxing and this is where everything changed.
Watch to find out how this Iranian refugee became a world champion boxer.
I hope it inspires you!
