From our album "We Happy Few"
A unusual merging of tunes... Our arrangement of a traditional tune Dennis Doody’s, Tolka Polka by Donal Lunny, and two tunes by Ford, Mum’s Polka, and More Nyah
Dennis Doody’s is a traditional polka and Tolka Polka is by Donal Lunny. Ford thought he was teaching Alex ‘Dennis Doody’s’ but it turned out to be half of Donal Lunny’s tune.
The next tune was a birthday present from Ford to his Mum who had recently retaken up the violin.
The last tune ‘More Nyah’ is named after a favourite phrase of Ford’s whistle tutor, Mike Walsh. “Play that tune with more NYAH!”
The percussion instrument Ford is playing at the beginning is the incredibly versatile South Indian 'Kanjira'.
