This 3/4 student cello belongs to a student of mine who has outgrown it and is now playing a full sized instrument. Included in the sale is a good quality wooden bow and a brand new Styrofoam case. A Tom&Will padded bag is also available in addition to (for an extra £25) or instead of the case.
The cello is hand made featuring a nice even grain solid spruce top and moderately flamed solid maple back and sides. It is in excellent structural condition and good cosmetic condition with only a few scuffs and scratches - mostly along the edges - none of which make any difference to the sound, and all of which can easily be touched up. It has benefited from significant improvements to the setup, including a new adjustable foot bridge, improvements to the shape of the tuning pegs, fingerboard and topnut, a new Wittner tailpiece, and a set of D'Addario Prelude Strings.
The video features me playing The Swan on the cello. Please excuse the intonation - it's a lot smaller than mine! It should give you an idea of the sound the cello is capable of making, which in my opinion is really very good for a fractional student cello. The maker/ factory is unknown as there is no internal label, but it has all the hallmarks of an Eastern European instrument made in the 70s or 80s. Fabulous cello outfit for a progressing young cellist and more than adequate for repertoire up to grade 6.
