The Hindu Lit for Life was born out of the need to celebrate the 20th year of The Hindu Literary Review in 2010. Held in January every year at Chennai, the festival is home to a host of conversations on a wide gamut of topics ranging from contemporary issues, politics, films, theatre, and music to popular fiction, food, translations, trends in regional literature and young adult fiction. The Hindu Prize, a crucial part of the festival, is awarded to the best-fiction written by an Indian author, in English.
