Happy Halloween! Berenice is a symphonic poem that was written over the course of several months and directly inspired by the short story written by Edgar Allen Poe.
About the Story:
In the story we follow Egaeus: a man who suffers from a condition he calls monomania, or intense, trance-like fixation on specific thoughts or subjects. He and his cousin, Berenice, (who suffers from a disease which causes her to have epileptic seizures that result in death-like comas), live together, married in their stately but bleak family home where they have few interactions. But one day when Egeaus catches a glimpse of, and begins fixating on, his cousin's teeth his world begins to unravel and he descends into his most catastrophic trance yet.
