Kumbilappam is a traditional and special Kerala snack recipe. What makes this snack special?
A portion of dough which is a mixture of jackfruit pulp, coconut, rice flour, jaggery, cumin powder and cardamom powder is wrapped in bay leaves and steamed. The aroma of the bay leaves and the sweetness of the jackfruit and jaggery gives this steamed snack a unique flavour.
Kumbilappam can be also prepared without using jackfruit or using ripe banana instead of jackfruit.
