Highlights from the Friesian Breed demos at the Equine Affaire in West Springfield, MA. November 2017. My Friesian horse is named Douwe. He is currently 16 years old and I have had him for 9 years. He was imported as a driving horse, ridden saddleseat, and then sold as a trail horse, thought to have no talent. He became dangerous, bucking off his riders and nobody wanted him. When I found him it took many years of trust building and getting his health in order so that he could be happy and form a partnership.
Teaching him tricks and working at liberty gave us a new start, a chance to learn together and explore. He is incredibly smart and loves to make up his own tricks as demonstrated with his wiggling lip trick. :) You can also follow Douwe on Facebook (yes he has his own page!) at "Douwe the Amazing Friesian".
