Stefan Baumann, a respected artist and oil painting instructor from the Bay area, now lives in Mt. Shasta. His passionate love of nature and use of light in his artwork began in Lake Tahoe and blossomed at Stanford University. He paints, and teaches students how to paint, the beauty of the forests and rural landscapes near his home and in the Rogue Valley. Baumann believes that "Anyone can learn how to oil paint, all it takes is desire." With 35 years teaching experience, he helps students develop their technique and style as they define their own vision. Stefan's enthusiasm, vast experience, and artistic competence inspire students to reach their next level of ability.
My work is a contrast of abstract design with geometric order. I'm drawn to repeating images and tend to build those into my work, while at the same time, I like looser brushstrokes and flowing lines. To me, that feels similar to life. You organize and schedule life, but there are so many unexpected life events. It's a mix of order and chaos.
