The sales of hunting and fishing licenses does more than you may think. License revenues are used throughout South Carolina for the management of fish and wildlife species. Additionally, license revenues help protect critical habitats and provide the backdrop for some of the most amazing outdoor recreation in the United States. From the mountains to the sea, South Carolinians are blessed with a bountiful of over 1.1 million acres of protected lands to call our outdoor playground. It is easy to see how the purchase of hunting and fishing licenses do not merely allow for the legal harvest of animals, but makes for a better South Carolina for all of South Carolina. How can you help? Purchase a license today at: http://www.dnr.sc.gov/purch... Show less

  • South Carolina Wildlfe TV Play all

South Carolina Wildlife TV is an idea that had floated around for several years. There were many potential stories associated with SCDNR projects and outreach activities, and ultimately a plan bobbed to the surface in August of 2003.

We had a clean slate from which to work. We decided the best approach would be something like a video version of South Carolina Wildlife magazine. So meetings were held, amused chuckles were traded and a format was chosen.

We would build a show around two main stories, one field trip segment, and a short wrap-up piece that featured natural sounds and settings. Most importantly, we would hit the road and river and forest and anywhere else we could find South Carolina's special places. At last count, our tally includes nearly 200 hundred shooting locations, 100+ guests, dozens of drive-thru cheeseburgers, four hosts and one upside-down truck (don't ask).
