Nuclear Power - Hope or Hoax, January 16, 2008, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Gordon Edwards of the Canadian Coalition for Nuclear Responsibility comes to Alberta to address a large crowd of concerned citizens. Tar sands operations are drawing an increasing amount of our domestic allotment of conventional fossil fuels (especially natural gas, commonly used for heating fuel in our extreme winter conditions) to create fuels and chemical feedstocks for export. As Alberta's natural gas production has apparently peaked, the industry is looking to develop large scale, alternative energy sources to extract low-quality bitumen from the sands of northern Alberta.
