Phase I NURHI spots aired from 17 October - 29 December 2011 and 3 May - 31 July 2012 in Abuja FCT. Phase I strategically aimed to revive the campaign on family planning in Nigeria after a decade of absence. These spots focused on getting people to know about family planning, talking about family planning and ultimately using family planning themselves.
Phase II NURHI spots aired from 23 December 2013 - 13 July 2014 in Abuja FCT. Phase II was conceived based on viewer feedback and midterm survey data. The emphasis of Phase II spots was on spousal discussion of family planning, perceived peer family planning use, perceived peer support for family planning, perceived self efficacy, correct beliefs and positive attitudes towards family planning.
NURHI launched the Interactive Health Education (iHED) system in November 2013 to provide a platform from which providers (midwives and doctors), primarily within family planning clients and integration points, can access relevant video-based educational content and resources from Android based smart phones or tablets. The discovery of a high prevalence of myths, misconceptions and provider biases during the NURHI midline evaluation helped direct video development.
