At the time of this recording, Amy was fifteen years old, and had been playing jazz for only two years. She is presently sixteen years old and does not yet have her driver's license. Initially the recording was made to enter a contest for an organization that probably no longer exists. Our goal was to make a recording that sounded old, that sounded as jazz did in the day when most people loved to listen to jazz, when there was still a strong connection between the emotions of the listener and the players. It is simply music that makes your toes tap. The players are Amy Levin on vibes, David Tyberg on bass, Howard Stein on guitar, and Peggy Benkeser on drums--that is, Amy and her teachers. The pictures displayed are of the EP cover and great musicians that have especially influenced her playing--Lem Winchester, Barney Kessel, Milt Jackson, Gary Burton, Cannonball Adderley, Wes Montgomery, and of course, Amy herself.
