Sebastian Diezig - Cello. http://www.SebastianDiezig.com In my Piatti Project I learn and record all the 12 caprices by Alfredo Piatti. Because they are all new to me it will take some time (2-3 years). Check back from time to time on my channel (subscribe?) or my website http://www.SebastianDiezig.com if you want to follow this activity. I find this project to be very helpful in improving my technique as those pieces are all cramped with technical difficulties. Nevertheless it's nice music to listen to (at least if you like the cello). Caprice No. 5 is all about arpeggios and staccatos. Like so often with Piatti your left hand will be playing double stops all the time. In this piece you also get to work a lot on string crossings plus a rather interesting stroke technique in the middle section (don't know how to call it...a mix between ricochet and staccato).
In November 2014 I set out to learn and record all of Alfredo Piatti's 12 Caprices for cello solo. The journey will take me probably 2-3 years because I knew only caprice no. 12 before getting started. I will post the videos here on my Youtube channel as I get ahead.
