The annual McSilver Awards ceremony recognizes outstanding individuals who are transforming systems to address the needs of individuals, families, and communities living in poverty, locally and globally.
The McSilver Institute for Poverty Policy and Research at NYU Silver School of Social Work is pleased to announce the launch of a new quarterly web series, Degrees of Freedom. Hosted by McSilver Institute Deputy Director Gary Parker, each 10-15 minute episode will feature a lively interview with a leading policymaker, researcher, or service provider making great strides to empower individuals and families living in poverty. Degrees of freedom is a statistical term used in quantitative data analysis. However, the phrase also connotes and reflects the McSilver Institute’s mission to rapidly translate research-derived knowledge into action, ultimately resulting in communities rising together to overcome poverty.
