The road is one of rock ‘n’ roll’s greatest muses. Countless songs have been sung about the victories and defeats of the travelling musician. It is these tales that often inspire us to pick up at a moment’s notice and hit the road ourselves, reveling in the spirit of the poets and explorers who for centuries before us, chose to quench their thirst for the unknown.
After a year of creative exile in 2014, Marshall is hitting the road and going on tour to coincide with the launch of a range of travel products introduced this year. It is in this spirit that Marshall presents the second installment of the brand’s campaign, titled Open Road.
The first stop on this tour is a city known for its musical influences, decadence and storied past – New Orleans. It was here that jazz was born in the late 19th century. It was also here that, in the mid-1950s, Fats Domino and Little Richard wrote and recorded some of their biggest hits. Songs that would set teenage hearts ablaze, define a generation and bring forth an entirely new musical genre – rock ‘n’ roll. The rest, as they say, is history.
Shot on location in various areas of New Orleans over the course of a week, the campaign emulates the experience of a band on tour. This year’s campaign features the bands L.A. Witch and The Shrine, and is again shot by lifestyle photographer Jason Lee Parry, who brings to life the experience of a band on the run in the bayous of the Deep South.
