For more than a century, aggregates and mineral producers have been using woven wire screen cloth to size their product. Recently, studies have shown that new screening technologies such as Flex-Mat 3 have proven that woven wire screen cloth cannot fully screen material in a crushing and screening operation.
For example, Flex-Mat 3 is made with wires are not interwoven. The wires are fully independent one from another and are bound together with polyurethane strips with no cross wires. When rocks fall on the tightly stretched interdependent wires, the wires vibrate along the full length of the screen directly through the strips continuing from hook to hook. The vibration of Flex-Mat wires varies from 6,000 to 10,000 cycles per minute, much more than the standard vibration of a shaker (around 800 cycles per minute). This higher frequency of vibration accelerates the natural stratification process of the deck bed for a maximum throughput, no carry over and a high quality retained product.
Due to the Flex-Mat accelerated stratification, vibrating screens can now perform, as they should have screened product from the start.
