EDM indie label, MalLabel, is proud to announce the release of its newest LP, Midnight Mob. Named best record label by SF Bay Guardian this year, MalLabel is one of the Bay's emerging sources of futuristic music and is readying Midnight Mob, a west coast bass/EDM/rap fusion album. Guest features include hip-hop artists Abstract Rude, Oh Blimey and Kelley Mak. Production is shared by Cory O, Timmy Tutone, DJ Puzzle, The OriGinALz and Cryptex.
Midnight Mob is a cocktail of rap fusion that will get your head nodding and your body moving on the dance floor. Just take “Auxiliery In,” a space age gangster smoke track, more hip-hop in style with rumbling low end and glitch-hop synths or “She Look Like,” a dark, heavy melodic and sexy track featuring hip-hop veteran Abstract Rude.
Midnight Mob is the brainchild of artist Raquel Divar, a Portland based artist who finds inspiration in bass beats. Divar released four singles last year, with her record, “Spinnaz,” charting as high as #19 on the beatport top 100 glitch-hop chart.
A native San Franciscan, Divar wrote rhymes as a kid while other kids wrote sentences. In 2007, she decided to take it to the next level and started the process of recording. She met EDM party promoter, label founder, and all around dub step, hip-hop, glitch hop promoter, Mal Harper a.k.a Mal in 2010, when she was throwing underground bass parties in San Francisco. The two hit it off, and decided to work together. Midnight Mob is the result.
“We’re 'Midnight Mob', mobbin' through the night with the system on blast.” says Divar of the title. Midnight Mob will be available January 6, 2015.
