Footprints Orphanage is a children's home in Kenya founded by Kerry Watson from Burton on Trent, Staffordshire in 2008. It's funded entirely by donations and sponsorship from the UK and is located in the Shimba Hills, a rural area without running water or electricity. We care for 18 children orphaned and abandoned children, providing not only food and shelter but love, care security and a quality education. The home provides employment to the local community and helps the community with various initiatives. Getting water is a constant struggle, we have constructed water tanks on our land to collect precious rainwater and help to fund and maintain a pipeline from the nearest river (4kms away) to the village. In 2012 we opened Footprints Academy, our very own school and employ 3 teachers who currently teach 58 children from Footprints and the local community. Education is the key to escaping the poverty circle.
