When the load arrived to the unit in Casper, Wyoming, our crane crews were rigged up and ready for off-load of the vessel. We utilized a 275 ton all-terrain machine and a 250 ton all-terrain machine to unload the trailer and set the tower horizontally onto oak mats (also provided by ETI). Then, a 90 ton rough terrain machine was utilized to dress out the tower with piping, walkways, ladders, & insulation, which brought the total load weight to 330,000 lbs.
With such a large load and minimal space on the ground for crane positioning, we chose to utilize the safest and most economic crane option: Manitowoc 2250 with MAXER 2000 configuration. In choosing a maxer crane configuration, we needed to build a large pad for ballast travel, which needed to be less than 1% level.
In addition to the vessel weighing 330,000 lbs, our deductions were 32,853 lbs for a total lift weight of 362,853 lbs. The customer's policy on lifts of this nature is to maintain 75% of chart at all times. Are greatest case percentage was 74.7 % with a capacity of 485,800 lbs at 50' radius.
Engineered lift plans, rigging diagrams, ground bearing pressure analysis were produced by our planning team, then reviewed and approved by an NCSG Professional Engineer.
