WIDE OPEN SPACES is the first live worship album from the inspirational collective SOUND OF WALES. Eclectic, devoted and committed to capturing the sound of a nation, SOW powerfully re-imagine revival classic Here Is Love and O Love That Will Not Let Me Go alongside superb home-grown anthems such as Ancient Wells, All Our Hallelujahs, Because Of The Cross and Wide Open Spaces.
Recorded over two nights in a wonderful venue in Cardiff in January 2015, SOW and the attendant congregation worshipped and gave everything...music, heart and spirit. ‘Enthusiastic, authentic and impassioned with visionary verve’ would be legitimate descriptions to attribute the evenings.
There is a growing momentum of prayer and creative energy coming from within Wales and part of this momentum fire is SOUND OF WALES - a collective of artisans, linked into various churches and organisations.
The SOW band released LLEF - meaning CRY - in 2012 with lead singer Cath Woolridge. The Acapella part of SOW - Cath together with Jess and Hannah -released a spectacular album in 2013.
SOW are leading worship and performing concerts at numerous events, including New Wine, World Vision, BBC Songs Of Praise, Spring Harvest, Detling, Open Skies and many churches. They also run their own summer school in Cardiff. 2015 will be their third of these summer schools, - an exciting two-day worship and arts event, growing in influence and numbers.
WIDE OPEN SPACES captures them live in a scenario where their true passion for God and revival is expressed. New songs such as the emotive Ancient Wells and the congregational Wide Open Spaces feature alongside classic revival hymns Here Is Love and O Love That Will Not Let Me Go, both re-imagined within a fresh musical framework. A string section adds depth and beauty to an already imaginative sound, and the combined voices of Cath, Jess, Hannah, Matt and Rachel create a powerhouse of harmony.
