This is a test of Chrisney's tornado and fire sirens. This siren "couple" is located at the Chrisney Volunteer Fire Department. They aren't part of any system, in fact, Spencer County does not have a county-wide siren system. The northern part of the county tests every first Sunday, while Rockport tests every Tuesday. Chrisney tests irregularly. We got permission from one of the firemen to see if he could set these sirens off. Luckily he proudly said yes and activated both of them manually. Despite being so close together, the sirens cannot sound simultaneously. In order for them to sound together they had to turn one on while shutting off the other one. The small Darley is used for fire calls while the larger Model 5BT is sounded for tornado warnings. Both sirens have been refurbished despite the Model 5 sounding a bit sluggish. The Darley, on the other hand, sounds like it's running at a higher voltage.
