A special chill collection of music, a concept EP.
This is a very personal and sentimental work for me.
A concept EP about a man and his sweetheart departing, putting miles between their hearts.
The rain reflects a man's dampened mood: he just parted ways with his sweetheart, who moved to this new city today. Having accompanied her on the train ride here, he must return home alone. The song follows him as he waits for the train, wrapped up in his thoughts, and eventually succumbs to tears and his loneliness. He collects himself, sits in a quiet empty booth, and starts his trip home, with nothing but a reaffirmation of his strength to keep it together: "I can - je peux."
Je Ne Veux Pas Que Tu Partes:
The rain continues outside the window of the booth. His thoughts lie only with his sweetheart, and the growing distance between them. He reflects on their parting words, and tries to push the rain from his mind. After some time in his headspace, he comes back to reality and his loneliness stings a little less, because he thinks of everything they have been through together, and of the next time he'll see her.
Quand Il Pleut Durant La Nuit:
The train continues at a brisk pace toward home, and the sky lightens. His thoughts turn once more to the positive times and to every moment he spent with her in the year prior. The muscles keeping his lip curled down loosen and he can't help but smile. His whole body warms from the thought of her being happy in her new environment, right down to the frozen hands he longed to hold hers with. He relaxes, stretches, and closes his eyes to stay in his rediscovered optimism.
