  • The CYCLONES: "I Fuck Excess" Live at CBGB

    956 views 2 years ago
"I Fuck Excess" by The CYCLONES live at CBGB. Not sure when this was, but we're thinking it's our last show there, in 2006. I'll edit in the correct date if we can dig it out of the archive. Not much of a video archive -- this is one of the few performances we've got on video. It was a lot of fun. It's shot from the lighting booth camera, to the right of the stage. No, it never moves. The sound is nice. We're glad we have it. House and live record mix by Jamie Gorman.

  • Gringo Starr Play all

Before The CYCLONES, before USA WASTED, during a brief period, the brothers were called "Gringo Starr." We played a few gigs as such and started recording a demo, but it never got past a rough stage. Actually, I had forgotten about this project, until Dave sent me a few songs from the "undone" demo. They are rough. When I heard "Dig," I laughed out loud at the intentional distortion -- so much fun. I really like it! Can't recall the recording session at all, but it sounds like overmodulated 8 track open reel tape; probably used an Altec 436C (old tube limiter, with a side of distortion) on everything possible.

Yes, we know there is currently a band called Gringo Star, from Atlanta. We were Gringo Starr.
