We are partnering with a group of International Development students at the University of Kentucky.
Our project consists of community-based evaluations of clean cook stoves in up to three locations in Haiti: Cyvadier, Jacmel, and Seguin. Two models will be provided to target communities, who will use them and assess their economic, social, and cultural appropriateness. We will prioritize vendors of street food and community kitchens at schools or hospitals, whose public use of these stoves will increase visibility and acceptance. These evaluations will form the basis for roll-out.
Funding will inform the exact numbers of participants in the evaluation phase, determine the number of free or subsidized stoves for roll-out, cover monitoring and evaluation costs, pay for training workshops, and define the timeline in which the project can be expanded to other regional locations.
The project addresses issues of energy, health, environmental protection, gender, and economic opportunity while scaling up existing work.
