Roaming through Detroit, you will see a number of homes that have been abandoned. But, look a little closer and you will also see several dogs who have been forgotten and left behind. The number of stray dogs in Detroit has been increasing as the debt in the city remains. Families are unexpectedly forced to leave their homes and therefore their dogs have to stay behind. Animal shelters are overcrowded as they try to accommodate these homeless dogs but there is simply not enough room. Shelters have to euthanize the dogs at an accelerated rate due to this overpopulation and even then, they still have to turn dogs away. There is said to be nearly 50,000 stray dogs on the streets of Detroit as of today. This number grows as these strays are not spayed or neutered, therefore repopulating, as more and more dogs continue to be abandoned. These abandoned dogs are fending for themselves as they search helplessly for food, shelter, and even affection. It is up to us to give a voice to those who can't help themselves. Donate to All About Animals and Detroit Dog Rescue in their effort to make a change for these dogs.

This video was made for my university Time and Motion Design class during the course of Fall 2013. I made all the illustrations used in this film. Thanks!
