IMPORTANT TERMS: // DNA // Self-replicating material present in all living things that contains genetic information. (basic biological instructions) // Little Cluster // Developing embryo/fetus in a mother's womb! // Testosterone (T) // Hormone that strongly influences sexual development. // Epigenetics // Changes caused by the modification of gene expression, not to the genetic code itself. (i.e. proteins interacting with DNA so some genes are not expressed and other genes are!) // Binding Protein // In this case, binding proteins attach themselves to certain parts of the DNA in response to "too much" or "too little" testosterone to expose or hide certain genes so that the embryo can properly respond to the concentration of testosterone. // Epi-Marks // Binding proteins can linger and modify the DNA, this chemically altered DNA can be passed down to the next generation.
