On 8/29/13 fast food workers in Atlanta went on strike and stood up for their rights and for a wage of $15/hr with direct support from Atlanta Jobs with Justice.
At 5:30 AM striking workers, Atlanta Jobs with Justice members and other community allies stood in front of McDonalds on Moreland Ave to make it clear to the corporation that workers will not accept starvation wages and intimidation from their employers.
At 10 AM, workers and allies moved to Church's Chicken on Moreland Ave and Custer Ave. to again stand up for their rights and a living wage, delivering a letter to the store's manager expressing their demands.
Later at 4 PM, workers and allies gathered for a Rally to Raise the Wage at Broad St. Plaza downtown next to 5 Points MARTA Station, protesting outside Burger King/Popeyes and McDonalds. Representative John Lewis came to the rally to show his direct support for the fast food workers going on strike in Atlanta and across the nation.
