Nahimana, 22, from Bujumbura, Burundi, is a mother of two. She gave birth to her first child when she was 13. While still a child herself, she set out to do everything within her means to support her child, and she still does.
Nahimana visits a youth centre, RNJ+, for support, sexual health information, and condoms. It’s the only youth centre in Burundi that provides a stigma-free space for all young people. This includes sex workers, people living with HIV, LGBTI young people and people who use drugs.
RNJ+ is supported through Link Up which is an ambitious project which is improving the sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) of more than one million young people in Bangladesh, Burundi, Ethiopia, Myanmar and Uganda. It is funded by the Government of the Netherlands’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs (BUZA).
