Diction: : choice of words especially with regard to correctness, clearness, or effectiveness

In a world full of "swag," "dope," and "illest,"
I'm constantly on a mission to find the realest words
to define who you are. Like I'm staring through a
telescope—words float in the atmosphere, flying
from one rappers mouth to another man's ear,
In fear of grabbing a word that I don't understand.
And I hand pick them out the sky for me to hold,
feel out the definition, fingers wrapped around its
grammatical position: noun, adjective, or adverb?
Then I SWERVE into the context, its sentence and surroundings,
and I make sure that I'm binding what I have to say, with its
    etymological DNA.

And I hate, to be completely anal about the words I choose,
but you're too special to be defined by just "Snapbacks and Tattoos,"
I can't abuse the same lyrics just to tell you how I feel,
And maybe trendy slang ain't the way to justify why you're here?

    So I'll search.

Staring at the sky for the right words to pass me by,
on the far side of the earth, another language might catch my eye,
When it rains, I'll be sure to catch them in wells.
When it snows, I'll be sure to pack 'em 'fore they melt,
in the sun. Never will I run out of words to dissect,
and maybe once In a while I can throw it back to oldies like,
"Come Correct." "Cause I like your Steelo." And "My heart belongs to Tenderoni."
Hah, but this ain't about the phony, just remember that each word
is chosen for a reason, certified USDA: uniquely satisfactory (in) definition always. Show less
