Later on in the game Infantry get Bazookas and Panzershrecks or w/e, and become very dangerous to tanks.

Everyone wants peace, mostly. But we also don't want to be killed, defense is necessary. Is US's military funding over the top though? Probably. But there are plenty of other government practices that need to be fixed as well.
