Dit is de cd 'Sandy Fort and Tony Vos with the Off Road Trio'. Sandy Fort was mijn oma en zij is in 2002 overleden. Er is hier in huis nog vaak geluisterd naar deze muziek, en het leek me leuk om het ook online te zetten zodat ook anderen ervan kunnen genieten.
Bij de CD:
Sandy Fort and Tony Vos with the Off Road Trio.
"We wish we could import you!" a group of American visitors once yelled after vocalist Sandy Fort's appearance in an Amsterdam jazzclub. In her own charming and modest way, she wove away this idea. However, it's a fact that her singing with that typical warmth, simplicity and feeling for the text, never fails to impress lots of whatever people in the audience.
Alto- and soprano-saxophone player Tony Vos stood at her side at that time and still does. Already sought after for his lyrical tone in the fifties when the Dutch 'Jazz Behind The Dikes' was en vogue, Tony's playing goes together wonderfully with Sandy Fort's ballads, jazz standards and latin songs. The Off Road Trio provides the excellent rhythmic and harmonic basis for both soloists.
Pianist Cees van der Wilden, drummer Bob van Hoolwerff and bassist Willem Meijboom are jazz veterans with versatile experience and are Sandy's accompanists already for many years. Apparently, the five musicians draw inspiration from each others ideas and performances, thus creating a relaxed and swinging conception of music apt to fascinate many lovers and listeners.
