Jonathan and Michelle live in Oneida, Kentucky. Their county is one of the most impoverished in the nation — and yet, they're speaking up in favor of foreign aid.
The president's proposed cuts to foreign aid - nearly ⅓ - would be disastrous for those living in extreme poverty. Millions suffering from famine would be denied life-saving food aid. Girls wouldn’t be able to go to school. Kids wouldn’t be able to receive vaccines.
Congress can stop these cuts - but only if we stand with Jonathan & Michelle and speak out.
Poverty is sexist. No matter how you cut it – socially, economically, legally - girls and women in the poorest countries get a raw deal. We won’t end extreme poverty unless world leaders act now to help girls and women reach their full potential.
