This video is dedicated to a very old friend of mine who was one of my roommates when I was at FT Bragg, NC after I came back from Vietnam near the end of 1968. His name is Stanley "The Baron" Behrens. He was into the same type of music as I was, however, he was also a terrific musician and singer and we spent many a night in downtown Fayetteville where his band would be playing.

We both really liked Canned Heat and they have been around since 1966 and their "STILL ON THE ROAD". In 1969 before I left the Army I told Stan I wanted to learn to play. He said; "OK and came back and handed me a Harmonica and an 8 track cassette and told me to play TRACK 5". That was it and 6 weeks later I left the Army and continued to play that song and then another and another and that went on for a few years and I taught myself and never had a lesson and I can play a fairly good tune now and then.

I never seen Stan again till 2001 and that was in Grapevine TX where he was appearing with...."CANNED HEAT". I got to meet Stan again and what really surprised me was he was still the old Stan I had known in 69, a lot of fun and no super star trip, however during that time before he was with CH from 1999-2005, he had recorded with Willie Dixon, Alice Cooper, Jimmy Smith and played with Bo Diddley, Bonnie Rait and on and on. He did the Renegade series on TV, Pamela Sue Anderson's first movie and was a heavy weight "STUDIO MUSICIAN" who also plays the Sax and Flute.

We talk now and then and he had done one CD with CH "Friends in a Can", and we were talking about it and he told me they had a live recording of "ON THE ROAD AGAIN" on You Tube. Now nobody ever does a song as good as the man who made it. Well this is as close as it gets. This recording was also in the movie RUM DIARY.

Stan is one of the most versatile Harmonica players around....for YOU old timers you will see some old stuff on here to include WOOD STOCK and plenty of other oldies but goodies,,,, Stan is the little guy in a black French type beret.

I recently got a message from him about 2 weeks ago (Jul 2015) and he is still touring with "WAR" and he is now featured on World of Harmonica. Too learn more about Stanley "The Baron" Behrens check out the sites below:
