To many, it sounded like a fairy tale: you take a bit of money, invest it wisely and within three years it will have multiplied 15 times over. Yet, this is exactly what we set out to do with the Investment Plan for Europe – investEU.
With investEU, also known as the Juncker Plan, we promised with the European Investment Bank to trigger €315 billion of additional investment in the EU by mid-2018.Time has passed, hundreds of projects have benefitted from the investEU support which has turned out to be a success, surpassing our initial goal.
But what can more than €315 billion do for a continent?
We’ve dusted off the EU time machine to go through some of the most memorable moments that have shaped the European Union as we know it today.
For more than 60 years, we have built a Union that promotes peaceful cooperation, respect of human dignity, liberty, democracy, equality and solidarity among European nations and peoples. The founding fathers knew that they were going to change history. They also knew that history lives on through archives. We have preserved more than 60 years of European history to remember the past and build a better future!
We are looking back with pride and looking forward with hope. Take a trip down memory lane with us and (re)discover some of our highlights.
