Well, after a very patient five years I am pleased to say that Brightline (All Aboard Florida) has launched! Demetrius, Darius, and I participated in a special VIP event that was organized by executives at Brightline, traveling between Fort Lauderdale, FL and West Palm Beach, FL. I can't thank them enough for inviting us and treating us to all the delicious hors d'oeuvres as well as various drinks. As for the train ride, it's like NONE OTHER. This video, of course has all the details of the Select/Smart products and much of the amenities that Brightline has to offer. Congratulations to them on a well executed service launch, even though it's the baby steps, in other words introductory service between Ft. Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, Florida. Not bad for closing a 50 year gap of private passenger rail on the FEC system. As for the success of this service it all lies on the market of course, but I remain optimistic and I am sure the rail travel game changer that is starting today will be on the forefront of a new dynamic.
From 2007-2014, FEC ran EMD SD70M-2s on regular freight service. Now they are in the process of doing away with all of them and obtaining GE ES44C4s. Here's some historical archives of videos between 2008 and 2014 that featured these beasts, which will all be missed.
