WHAT IS THE DAILY MICHAEL AND WHO WILL BENEFIT? The Daily Michael is a musical and literary program for persons of all ages, children through senior citizens. Elders will especially love the great, old songs, but all will be uplifted by good poems, stories and music. This unique offering is for anyone who'd like to have a special, warm, daily musical/literary companion. It's great for bedside computers or small groups.
HOW CAN YOU HELP THE DAILY MICHAEL REACH OTHERS? Please share The Daily Michael with friends, family, parents, grandparents, shut ins, hospital/hospice patients, elder care residents, activity directors and social workers. Leaving a positive or thoughtful comment helps, too. I am trying to answer Spirit's call in 2012 and beyond... and it encourages me to know that I've cheered others (or that someone has shared my videos/page with a fellow human)!
DAILY MICHAEL MATERIAL: The Daily Michael features uplifting, often introspective poems and stories written by myself, over the course of a lifetime. Beloved public domain songs are a big part of the program, and I sing them for you while playing various cool, often stringed instruments. New material (such as songs, essays, letters, poems or prayers) are included, when the Muse speaks.
DAILY MICHAEL FORMAT: We begin with an original opening themesong, enjoy the things described above, play "Guess the song," hear an old spiritual song, have a "Let's sing" multiple song section, pause for an inclusive prayer/meditation, sing an old inspirational tune, and close with a neat goodbye song medley. This is a format I have honed over the years, during more than ten thousand live performances.
TOPICS FOR THE DAILY MICHAEL: Topics include: life, the arts, aesthetics, spirit, consciousness, nature, the seasons, mystery, etc., and the general tone is uplifting.

Michael D. Purvis loves to write novels, novellas, short stories, journals, letters, self help and instructional materials. But aside from these, there is his more artistic side, which includes his work as a poet, lyricist, composer, orchestrator, and fine artist in many genres. Michael loves to incorporate these into his books, recordings and videos, often as possible.
So here is a playlist which features recordings and videos which illustrate this fact. These are particularly musical, poetic, and artistic videos (or ones which contain/feature music, poetry or art... or which, in some instances, are on the subjects of music, poetry and art).
Michael's father is a writer, poet, scholar, teacher, actor, theater director and artist. His birth mother was a reading specialist, and encouraged his interests in art an craft by doing things with him when he was small like making cards out of wallpaper, making homemade Christmas ornaments, and encouraging him to make a huge mural on his bedroom wall.
And so, from an early age he was taught to love literature, drama, art and craft. But where did the music come from?
Well, down his family line are many musicians, and Michael is no exception. His degree in music from Butler University, his fine teachers there, and his many years performing and teaching have helped him to hone his abilities in music.
Please enjoy, here in this playlist, Michael's videos containing (or on the subject of) music, poetry and art. And, to experience more of Michael's creations, see the entire Music-Outreach.com site (devoted to music for the elderly) and click the "Music" and "Poetry" toolbar buttons on AbundantChange.com.
