Venezuela

For those wondering about the recent resurgence of the Venezuelan elties, look no further than the massive drop in oil prices that have crippled the leftist government's ability to fund the kind of government necessary to keep the people happy. According to the CIA, Venezuelan oil exports make up 45% of the government's budget. In the case of Venezuela, the government actually serves the people, unlike the United States government which serves this country's oligarchy. Thus, you can imagine how hindered the Bolivarians must be by the loss of 45% or more of their budget with the loss in oil revenues. There are two vides from economist, Richard Wolff, explaining why oil prices have dropped so dramatically and, also, two videos about the silent crisis of fracking in the United States, a process of extracting fossil fuels from the ground that threatens our country's entire aquifer system and our ecosystems. If you think what's happening to the Venezuelans is bad, wait till you find out what we're going to do without any clean water to drink. Fracking is at the heart of the problem for both these nations.

Another very interesting video in this playlist is the farewell of Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez, who was dying of cancer at the time he said goodbye to his nation. What's so remarkable about this goodbye was that, unlike all the lies that had been said about him over the years, he wasn't full of anger or resentment. Ever the teacher and statesman, he said goodbye with a smile on his face and had only kind words for all of humanity. Unfortunately, there is no English translation of this video for American viewers, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist or a brain surgeon to see what's really going on here. Hasta la victoria siempre!
