RoN: Double Alliance

I selected 'teams of two' for this battle. The Greeks and Romans were allied against the Turks under Mehmed II Khan Gazi and the Persians under Zarathustra. However, I quickly became disillusioned with the inability of Lysander of Sparta to conduct successful operations. I was unable to declare war on them at the end, but I wanted to in order that they may learn the strength of Roman arms. They were no help at all - this was supposed to be a truly 'quick' battle but it ended up taking as long as if they weren't there at all. In fact all they did was slow the game down, as it had to render their two hundred units marching pointlessly up and down the map. This battle was also very interesting for me in that I suffered a few defeats. At least one legion was almost wiped entirely from the battle order. Territory had to be relinquished. A number of towns, the holding of which became untenable, were completely razed, though in truth this was out of spite for my enemies.

Difficulty: Toughest
