SciPy 2014, the thirteenth annual Scientific Computing with Python conference, was held July 6-12, 2014 in Austin, Texas. SciPy is a community dedicated to the advancement of scientific computing through open source Python software for mathematics, science, and engineering. The annual SciPy Conference allows participants from all types of organizations to showcase their latest projects, learn from skilled users and developers, and collaborate on code development. This year's registrants hail from over 25 countries and represent academia, government and industries such as aerospace, market research, finance, electronics, geoscience, healthcare and more.

Special themes for the 2014 conference were "Geospatial Data in Science" and "Scientific Computing in Education." The event featured over 120 talk and poster paper speakers/presenters with additional mini-symposia on Astronomy and Astrophysics, Bioinformatics, Computational Social Science, Digital Humanities, Engineering, Geophysics, Geospatial Computing, and Vision, Visualization, and Imaging.
