Ayn Rand's Objectivism - Best Introductory Playlist

What is Objectivism, and what does it really advocate? These videos provide an overview, and explain at an introductory level. There is MUCH more to be learned, and I recommend reading not only Ayn Rand's novels, like Atlas Shrugged, but also Rand's and Dr. Peikoff's nonfiction writings.

If all you have read of Rand is her novels, and you think you dominantly understand what there is to understand about Objectivism, I can practically guarantee you that you don't. Achieving anything but the most superficial knowledge of Objectivism, riddled with errors and misunderstandings, requires reading Ayn Rand's nonfiction and a great deal of serious thought.

These videos can get you started, but they can't substitute for your own pursuit of understanding of Objectivism, through reading, questioning and thought.

***Important Note: I HIGHLY recommend that anyone studying Objectivism strive to gain an understanding of what principles are, and why man needs them, before considering yourself to have an essential understanding of Objectivism. A start on what principles are is found here: aynrandlexicon.com/lexicon/principles.html

But this is not enough. Once you know the essential content of Objectivism, seek out "Understanding Objectivism" and "Objectivism Through Induction" for a better grasp of what principles are, what it means to act on them, and why human beings should. (The books, *Viable Values* and *Ayn Rand's Normative Ethics* by Tara Smith also have good discussions of moral principles.) Principles are important in every field, not just philosophy. If you have taken a course in physics, then you have been exposed to principles of physics. If you have taken a chemistry course, you have been exposed to principles of chemistry. But philosophy also deals with the issue of *what principles, themselves, are,* not just the particular valid principles of the field.
