Why do we need web analytics? (Romanian)

Audience, money and content - these are three key questions that owners or editors-in-chief of almost every media think about. How to find an audience and understand what interests them? How to turn media into a profitable business? How to attract advertisers and partners?

These five tips will also help you improve the readability and traffic to your media:

Refer to Google Analytics. Keep in mind that access to the data analytics should have not only the editor, but other team members. This will help them analyze the effectiveness of their work and improve it.

Be interested in your audience. The number of views is not the only indicator worth paying attention to when working with data. Pay attention to those who read your media. Who are these people, where do they live, how old are they, and from which devices and operating systems do they come to your site?

Be prepared to tell the advertiser about yourself and your reader. A modern advertiser does not pay for “place” on your site, but for access to the audience. Perhaps the distributor of new running shoes will want to advertise on your site, because people like to read your sports column? Think what you can offer to business partners.

Track traffic. When you figure out who reads you, you can go on to the next item - how do readers find your media? Someone followed the link in Facebook, and someone was looking for news on a particular topic in a search engine? After analyzing where your reader comes from, you will know which channels should be strengthened. Perhaps you need to pay more attention to pages in social media, or think about SEO-optimization of the site?

Don't forget, media is business. Many people think that working in the media consist of content production only. But do not forget that the media is also a business and it should be profitable. Be prepared that business plans and sales managers should be your reliable assistants.
