Caring for a person with dementia

When a person with dementia finds that their mental abilities are declining, they often feel vulnerable and in need of reassurance and support. The people closest to them - including their carers, friends and family - need to do everything they can to help the person to retain their sense of identity and feelings of self-worth. In these films, carers tell their stories of dementia. Many of these films also feature Alzheimer's Society Services. Our local services include day care and home care for people with dementia, as well as support and befriending services to help partners and families cope with the demands of caring. From Alzheimer's Café's and innovative 'Singing for the Brain' sessions to memory-book projects and group outings, our services provide both practical support and an essential point of human contact.
