Out of Character: Decoding Chinese Calligraphy

What defines a masterwork? This exhibition (on view at the Asian Art Museum from October 5, 2012--January 13, 2013) focuses on fifteen masterpieces supported by twenty-five additional works of the highest quality. It explores the roles of tradition, creativity and self-expression in the art of Chinese calligraphy.
