Neil Leslie Diamond (born 1941)is an American singer-songwriter & occasional actor.
He was born into a Jewish Russian-Polish family. He sang in the high school choir with Barbra Streisand. Later he studied medicine in NYU.

He was one of pop music's most enduring & successful singer-songwriters. Diamond scored a number of hits worldwide in the 1960s, 1970s & 1980s.
He was ranked 3, behind only Elton John & Barbra Streisand, on the list of the most successful adult contemporary artists in the history of the Billboard chart.
