As a former Toronto City Councillor, Peter helped keep valuable services public and championed smoke-free restaurants. Since his election to Queen's Park in 2006, Peter has brought in many fresh initiatives, advocating job creation and environmental legislation, keeping people safe from toxins and integrating new Canadians into the economy.

As former Executive Director of Greenpeace and current Ontario NDP energy and education critic, Peter leads the charge towards a new energy economy. He pioneered energy efficiency in Toronto in the 1990s, often working closely with the Carpenter's Union, and continues his pursuit of a greener, healthier world.

Peter lives in Toronto, Ontario with his partner Shawn Kerwin.
