Joseph, Moses and Egypt’s Three Kingdoms: Season 1

For more than two hundred years controversy has raged over the reliability of the Genesis, Exodus account of Joseph’s abduction from Canaan into Egypt and Moses’ subsequent departure. Questions about the factuality of its colourful heroes, villains and kings have led many critics to see these stories as little more than pious fiction. In a detailed, comprehensive and visually stunning three part adventure, three internationally respected scholars, Khaled Osman, Dr Leen Ritmeyer and Dr Troy Sagrillo, draw on an unprecedented range of historical and archaeological data from the ancient Near East and use it to paint a vibrant picture of the social and economic interaction between Egypt and the southern Levant (modern day Jordan, Israel and Palestine) which underlies this ancient story. From the deserts and mountains of the Sinai to the fertile black lands which border the Nile, from the palm fringed Mediterranean coast to the Jordan rift valley, the lowest point on earth, we retrace the migration journeys and locate the biblical heroes within the framework of Egypt’s ancient history.
